Mobile Learning Center Programme ( MLC Programme)
From November 2007, Identity Foundation, the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA*) and NGO’s in Pune have collaborated to run the MLC programme to optimize its effect and reach. SSA and the NGO’s jointly address deprived children through over 250 non-formal-education (NFE) centers and reach around 5000 children. The Mobile Learning Center will now cater to the infotainment needs of these children in form of picnics, movies, educational films etc.
As the beginning of the cooperation, between the 26th and the 30th of November 90 children from 5 NGOs went for picnics to Tulapur and Baneshwar (both these places are close to Pune). The participating NGO’s were- Tathagat Pratisthan, Sankalp Foundation, PremSeva Pratisthan & Kannad Madhyam. The children enjoyed themselves since they rarely get an opportunity to go anywhere. The children were also shown films like ‘Ammu Ki Bakari’, ‘Gilli Gilli Atta’ and ‘Shri Krishna’ during the picnics.
This cooperation is planned with the SSA to be extended for the complete year of 2008 and reach out to all the 5000 children the NGO’s are currently associated with. The successful initiation of this programme in coordination with the Funders and Sponsors believing in the idea, the Government Agency acknowledging the concept and the NGO’s participating in the programme act as a huge moral booster for everybody at Identity Foundation and makes is stronger believers in the benefits of sharing our resources.
